Mark Davies Chartered FCSI – Managing Director
Born in Cardiff, South Wales, Mark was educated in the UK and joined the NatWest Group in 1976. In his early years he worked in a number of branches undertaking a thorough ‘apprenticeship’ in the practice of banking, including lending, investments and foreign exchange. Mark moved to the banks Head Office in the mid 80’s where he specialized in the analysis of Corporate and Trust documentation in relation to perfecting the Banks non standard security.
In 1989 Mark was seconded to NatWest Finance which later became Coutts Jersey. At Coutts he was responsible for the development and launch of the Coutts Offshore Managed Portfolio, a discretionary vehicle which invested in offshore funds. To further his career Mark joined The Bank of Nova Scotia (Channel Islands) Ltd in 1998 as Head of Treasury and Investments where he chaired the banks Offshore Investment Policy Committee.
In September 2001 Mark took up an appointment as Investment Director with Kleinwort Benson (CI) Ltd (part of the Allianz Group) and became a member of the Bank’s Investment Policy Committee. In May 2005 he joined the independent fiduciary group Walbrook as Head of Investment Strategy and Manager Selection.
Mark left Walbrook in July 2007 and moved to Cyprus, with a specific responsibility of setting up the Cyprus office and the development of business for a multi jurisdictional Fiduciary provider.
In 2012, Mark and fellow director Tracey Rowe, concluded a management buyout and established Ariannol Group.
Mark is a member of the Institute of Financial Services and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. He enjoys rugby, football, golf, swimming and reading.
Roger Bailey FCG – Director
Roger moved to Cyprus in 2015 having been a regular visitor since 1990. Born in the north of England Roger moved to Jersey in 1979 joining the finance industry in 1987. Working in the legal, accounting and trust company sectors of the industry Roger gained extensive knowledge and experience qualifying for ICSA (now FCG) membership in 1994 and becoming a fellow in 2010.
In Jersey Roger achieved his first directorship in 1998 for International Fiscal Services Ltd and steered that company through the early days of regulation by the Jersey Financial Services Commission. Over the next 15 years Roger was appointed a Director of St George Financial Services Ltd and Athena Trust Company Ltd, both Jersey regulated financial services businesses. Although both of these companies were relatively small they were both involved in substantial, and often complicated, international structures. Whilst with St George Financial Services Roger assisted in the launch of two PLCs on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) and served as Company Secretary for both.
In the early 2010s Roger was involved in the set up of a physical gold fund in Jersey and worked on a number of other projects in Jersey and Cyprus. In 2016 he joined Ariannol to manage specific projects, including GDPR compliance, and to use his knowledge and experience to assist the current directors and staff. From 2016 to 2019 Roger served as assistant secretary to the Cyprus Fiduciary Association and developed a wide network of contacts across the financial services industry in Cyprus. He was appointed to the Board in August 2021.
Jade Burrows – Director
A native of Jersey, Jade joined Coutts in 2002 after completing her education. She quickly established herself as part of the ‘premium’ team dealing primarily with high net worth clients
Jade gained valuable experience in dealing with clients from all walks of life as well as professionals such as lawyers, accountants and tax advisors which helped her in recent years as she became involved in more complex tax re-structuring exercises.
As a recognition of her people skills Jade was asked to attend a ‘train the trainer’ course and was then given the responsibility to provide good quality training to all new members of staff who did not have trust backgrounds. She was also regarded as a ‘power user’ for the banks record and book keeping systems and became actively involved in updating procedures and ensuring all staff understood the importance of accurate book-keeping.
After 5 years with Coutts, Jade moved to Cyprus in 2008 and in acknowledgement of her maturity and rapid development Jade was subsequently asked to take a director position in the Cyprus office, as it developed its fiduciary services.
Jade holds a level 5 International Finance and Administration qualification (formerly ICSA Diploma).
Elena Sotiriou – Lawyer and Director
Elena was born and educated in Cyprus. She graduated in Law from the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece in 2006. Elena returned to Cyprus and was admitted to the Cyprus Bar Association and the Paphos Bar Association in 2007, having successfully passed the relevant examinations.
Elena worked for a couple of law firms in Paphos, in the litigation area and is an experienced litigator dealing with civil cases (contracts and torts) as well as criminal cases and cases in the field of administrative law, property law, probates, family law, banking law and debt collection.
She joined the Ariannol Group as an associate, in 2013 and now specialises in commercial and general corporate law. She is a highly skilled and qualified lawyer who primarily deals with the firm’s corporate sector. She engages in a full spectrum of legal and corporate administration services, ranging from the incorporation of any type of company up to the provision of all the necessary legal advice regarding the management and operation of companies. She specialises in advising on all aspects of Cyprus company law, company and business acquisitions, sale of private companies, joint ventures, start- ups and restructuring.
For local clients Elena advises on Immigration, immovable property matters and has been instrumental in setting up the company’s Will & Executor Services.
Elena keeps abreast of the constant changes in her field by regularly attending seminars in Greece and Cyprus. She is fluent in Greek and English and is happy to advise clients in either language.
Ali Redmond – Compliance Manager – BA (Hons), ACICM
Born in Stockton-On-Tees, North East England, Ali graduated from the University of Teesside with a Bachelor of Arts Accounting and Finance degree. She gained over 15 years experience with various high profile global companies, and also went on to study and gain qualifications in Management, Credit Management, Management Accounting, and is currently studying towards being a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (ICM), Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
After leaving University, Ali’s first position was in credit control at Orange Personal Communication Services, and then went on to P&O Ferrymasters where she quickly developed a client base of over 200 high profile corporate customers. This led to studying towards the credit management qualification, a qualification in management and also a desire to further her career in an accountancy role. After several assistant accountant roles Ali gained employment with Huntsman Tioxide where she studied towards being a management accountant with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and in 2009, following 5 years as Accounts Administrator Team Leader, Ali emigrated to Cyprus.
In 2013, Ali joined Ariannol Group as the company accountant, and following the Company’s successful License Application in December 2014, Ali gained promotion to become Ariannol’s Compliance Manager. To add to her qualifications Ali has attained her Certificate in Compliance with the International Compliance Association.
